Turf looks great. Let’s keep it smelling that way.

Clean, fresh turf for dogs and people.

Artificial turf is a favorite in San Diego yards, and dogs love it too. We pick up the waste and, if you’d like, treat the turf with an all-natural enzyme spray to tackle the odor that builds up in the infill.

What we do on turf

On every visit we pick up all the dog waste on your turf and the rest of your service area. Add deodorizing and we then spray the areas your dogs use most with Yard Odor Destroyer, an all-natural, pet-safe and kid-safe enzyme spray. Enzyme cleaners work by breaking down the urine residue behind the smell instead of covering it up.

Pricing for turf yards

Turf yards are priced like any other yard: weekly service from $24.75 per visit and every-other-week from $34 per visit for one dog. Deodorizing is $10 per visit, whatever the surface. See every rate on our pricing page.

Why dog turf starts to smell

Turf doesn’t absorb urine the way soil does. It drains through the fibers into the infill and base layer, where bacteria break it down into ammonia. Warm, dry stretches make it worse. Leftover poop adds its own odor and bacteria on the surface, which is why regular pickup comes first.

Turf care tips between visits

  • Rinse the dog areas regularly. Soak the spots your dogs use to flush urine down through the infill, and rinse more often in hot, dry weather. Many turf makers suggest a thorough hose-down at least monthly.
  • Keep rinse water on your property. Let it soak into the turf base or planters instead of running down the driveway. San Diego County’s stormwater rules allow only rainwater into streets and storm drains.
  • Skip the bleach. Harsh chemical cleaners can damage turf fibers and backing without fixing the odor. Stick with enzyme-based, pet-safe products.
  • Brush it now and then. A stiff broom or turf rake keeps the fibers upright and the infill evenly spread.
  • Ask about infill and drainage. If odor keeps coming back even with regular care, have your turf installer check whether the base drains well and whether a pet-specific infill would help.

Artificial turf cleanup: common questions

Do you clean artificial turf?

Yes. We pick up all the dog waste on your turf, then, if you add deodorizing, spray the areas your dogs use with Yard Odor Destroyer, an all-natural enzyme spray.

How much does turf cleanup cost?

Turf yards are priced the same as grass: weekly service starts at $24.75 per visit and every-other-week at $34 per visit for one dog. Yard deodorizing is $10 per visit on any surface.

Is the deodorizing spray safe for my dogs and kids?

We use Yard Odor Destroyer, an all-natural enzyme spray that’s pet-safe and kid-safe. Ask us if you’d like product details before your first visit.

Why does my turf still smell after the poop is gone?

Most turf odor comes from urine. It soaks through the fibers into the infill and base, where bacteria break it down and release that ammonia smell, especially on hot days. Picking up waste removes one source; an enzyme treatment and regular rinsing go after the other.

Do I still need to rinse my turf?

Yes, we recommend it between visits. A good soak of the areas your dogs use helps flush urine down through the infill. Keep the rinse water on your property rather than letting it run into the street.
